If You Had One Wish...

If you had only one wish in the world, what would it be? I gave this a great deal of thought, and here's what I came up with:

Not world peace. Oh sure, I want world peace, but my wish would depend on other people behaving themselves. This just ain't gonna happen. So the wish would have to involve something I could do, personally.

Not have super powers. Melting metal with my eyeballs or flying would be totally cool, but unrealistic. A little super is okay, as long as it's within reason.

Not be a bazillionare. Yes, money is important, but not the end-all be-all of life. I thought about wishing for a pocket that filled with money when I needed it, but it's pretty much the same thing as a bazillionare- without the investing.

So what's my wish? I wish I could understand all languages, whether they be spoken, gestured, or written. We use only ten percent of our brains, so this is entirely possible. It also would be really cool on so many levels!

One- I could translate the original text of the Bible and other ancient writings accurately.

Two- I could help others communicate with each other all over the world.

Three- I could finally understand those overheard conversations that start out in English, but switch over to another language
when it gets to the good part! You know what I mean... those conversations on the bus or other public place that start out...'Oh, I know what she did was horrible, yet funny at the same time! And guess what else she did? Spinkel del poodie foose snarkle beese arbit!" (if that is even close to another language, please forgive me, I know not what I type!) At least if I had this translation ability, I could understand what she was saying!

Four- It would be really cool seeing the faces of people who think I have no idea what they're talking about, then find out that I totally understood them!

It's nice to think about wishes, but it's even nicer enjoying reality, at least once in a while. I'm going to spend my reality petting the cats for a bit before I start my morning routine!

So.... what would your wish be?

What a wonderful wish! I most enjoyed reading your reasoning, too. I'd wish for no more pain, if it was possible; I rejoice that there will come a day! :)

I think I would wish for no more tobacco. I hate the smell and at least it might cut down on the cancer rate.

That would indeed be a gift. Lot's of possibilities....never thought of it. Good idea.
